The Hawaii Surf Team is building the next world championship team, and this is your opportunity to be a part of the team. The Hawaii coaches have led the team to the medal podium every year and they are running a series of selection camps to build the 2025 team to perpetuate the Hawaiian sport of surfing, the aloha spirit and bring home the gold.

 

The Hawaii Surf Team selection camps will determine the 2025 team comprised of three boys U18, three boys U16, three girls U18, and three girls U16, additionally two alternates will be selected for each division.

 

Schedule

The try-outs will run throughout the following weekends in February:

 

Boys U18: February 1-2, 9am-5pm

Boys U16: February 8-9 or 15-16 (*will run on weekend that HSA Oahu does not run), 9am-5pm

Girls U16 & U18: February 9 or 16 (*will run on weekend that HSA Oahu does not run)

 

*We will monitor the HSA schedule and confirm which weekend we will run with all registrants, so please hold off purchasing your airfare until notified.

 

Cost

The cost to participate in the selection camp is $250. 

 

Location

North Shore, Oahu - surf spot determined day before camp based on swell.

 

Criteria

Below are the three elements that make up the HST selection criteria. These elements will be used in all camps and will ultimately determine the final team. The Hawaii Surf Team program selects the top surf athletes in Hawaii based on the following:

 

1. Gold Medal Alumni

a. Individual Gold: all individual medalists that are age eligible have a spot in the following

year.

b. Team Gold: all alumni that are age eligible have a spot in the following year.

 

2. Talent and competition experience

a. The ability to produce excellent scores.

b. The ability to accept feedback, follow directions and adapt to changing situations and

conditions. Coach-ability.

c. Attitude, maturity, and the ability to work well in a team.

d. Perpetuate the aloha spirit and represent Hawaii with pride.
